A common problem that is cited in many people is the Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). This causes uneasiness in the abdomen with altered bowl movement. This has been diagnosed and experts and research have shown that IBS is related to hypersensitivity of the nerves found in the gastrointestinal tract. These nerves behave differently from the ones found in the spine and brain. IBS could happen in some people from the gut nerves communication with the brain or the brains interpretation of the information passed.
IBS affects women more than men and almost 15 percent of the population in the United States suffer from IBS. Most people get their first symptoms as they reach 40. for some it manifests in their childhood to young adults. Familial component has also been noted as being one of the causes many who have IBS usually identify a family member with the same symptom. In some lesser heard cases IBS develops after severe intestinal infection known as post-infection IBS.
